The Town of Scarborough has an excellent full-time opportunity to join the Community Services recreation team as a Coordinator for the Town's Recreation and Senior Citizen Programs.
The Program Coordinator will focus on developing, organizing, implementing, and supervising recreation programs for senior citizens such as social and recreational events, arts and crafts, educational programs, and trips/excursions. The Coordinator will work to promote and expand senior programs, manage public relations for all programs, and develop program publicity, brochures, flyers, newsletters, and news releases. This position will also provide excellent customer service and support the Community Services team with program registrations and screening/directing calls.
The successful candidate must have a passion for serving our senior population. The position requires outstanding communication and customer service skills and the ability to work well within a team and independently. A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Knowledge of and experience with senior citizen programming, philosophies, principals, and practices is required. Valid driver's license is required. Two or four year college degree preferable. Specialized or advanced training relating to senior programming, or related field, desired. Education and/or experience in parks and recreation or related field of study is preferred. In lieu of the above, any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered at the discretion of the Town of Scarborough.
