We are seeking a full time detail oriented and organized medical assistant for our San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach offices. Individual should have medical assisting education and/or medical assisting experience. Duties include but are not limited to taking vitals, rooming patients, processing orders and referrals, obtaining records from third parties as needed, checking patients out, explaining preparation instructions and assisting the physician in exam room as necessary. Additional back office duties include but are not limited to obtaining authorizations for procedures, prescriptions and tertiary center referrals. Familiarity with HMO and PPO insurance plans a must. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) required, good handle on medical terminology and anatomy and the skills to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Additional desired skills and abilities needed are a strong written/verbal communication, the ability to type 35+ wpm and have and maintain reliable transportation. The ideal candidate will need the ability to learn quickly, self start and have the desire to improve and learn.
Job information: Full time with benefits (health insurance, sick/vacation, paid holidays and 401K)
Compensation type: Hourly (occasional overtime)
Compensation amount: DOE
1 year experience
MA Certification/licensure is not required but is a bonus.
