The Mental Health Specialist is the treatment team member who is responsible for providing care to meet the physical and psychological needs of clients through providing direct and indirect services, using Psychiatric Rehabilitation concepts and Recovery Philosophy.

As the newest member of the Telecare family, Telecare North Sound Evaluation and Treatment Center will be a 16 bed locked inpatient psychiatric unit. An interdisciplinary team will provide progressive recovery--based services to adults who have mental illness.

The program is scheduled to open at the end of August 2015.

Two (2) years experience with psychiatric clients in an inpatient psychiatric setting is required.
Knowledge of basic psychiatric and nursing skills, including nursing interventions is essential.
Certification as a CNA or its equivalent is acceptable documentation of nursing skills knowledge.
A High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
Effective written and verbal communication skills regarding psychiatric behavior and treatment documentation.
Knowledge of emotional and social needs of mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals.
Must have a current Washington Agency Affiliated Counselor certification
Ability to use problem-solving techniques.
Ability to interview clients to determine client needs.
Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and be proficient in reading, speaking and writing English.
Applicant may be finger printed and receive clearance from the Washington State Patrol Identification and Criminal History Section.
In accordance with WA Administrative Code this position requires a current Washington State credential appropriate to this position and issued through the Washington Department of Health (WADOH). Credentials may be certifications or licenses, according to requirements for the position as indicated and must be active as verified through pre-employment human resource procedures.
Minimum Credential Requirement -- Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). First time AAC applicants may have a 30-90 day processing period before approval and active credentials are issued. Other WADOH Licenses/Certifications may be considered.

Wage - $12.93 - $14.57/hr
