NICONAT is looking for a creative Design Engineer to join our expanding team.

NICONAT MFG. is a manufacturer and distributor of custom made, high-end retail store fixtures and furniture located in the City of Commerce, California. NICONAT projects range from display cases and lighting fixtures to whole store builds from the ground up. We work directly with designers and architects to coordinate and create beautiful spaces with our high quality fixtures and furniture. Clients are focused in Los Angeles areas, though we also produce work for stores all across the country. Customers include names like True Religion, St. John, Sam Edelman, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Our Design Engineering Department is looking to expand its staff with fresh minds that have strong design backgrounds. We work directly with Designers and Architects and turn their ideas and sketches into working, buildable products. We need creative minds that are able to problem solve and design solutions to make anything possible. We are looking for someone who is willing to take the time to learn the fundamentals of this industry and our own company's capabilities with the goal of creating our own internal Design Team as the company continues to grow. This is an opportunity to enter a department with tons of drive and potential in a rapidly expanding company.

Primary Responsibilities

Fixture Engineering
Work with experts in the field to come up with solutions on how to build a wide variety of types of store fixtures and furniture for top name clients

Design for Manufacturing
Use Solidworks to create production ready 3D models, CAD files and construction drawings to be used by our production team and installers. Utilize Solidworks for making fully defined 2D drawings with detailed explanations and call outs on materials, fasteners, and construction details.

Communicating with Customers
Work directly with designers, architects, and project managers to coordinate dimensions, materials and finishes and updates on projects.

Tracking Production of Projects
Monitor the progress of projects to ensure their design intent is carried out through production.

Qualifications
Bachelors in a Design or Engineering related field
Strong Solidworks background
Creative design and problem solving skills
Detail oriented
Self-Managing with a pro-active work ethic
Motivated to learn more about our industry and production methods
