This is an unclassified position with the El Dorado Correctional Facility Release and Re-Entry Group.
Salary range - $36171.20 - $48,484.80
This position works as part of the Risk Reduction & Reentry (R3) team at the El Dorado Correctional Facility, and is responsible for providing evidence-based programs which have demonstrated results in reducing the chances of convicted adult male felons in KDOC to recidivate. This is accomplished by instructing and coordinating the instruction of these programs with staff and volunteers. KDOC is committed to providing EBP focused on reducing recidivism to prevent further harm to victims or potential victims and to improve public safety. This position is responsible for providing recidivism/risk-reducing programs/classes. This position is the lead in delivering these classes. The Program Consultant collaborates with others to broker co-facilitators and facilitators, including KDOC staff, contract staff, volunteers, and community partners. This position establishes skills-building classes for offenders, matching appropriate dose levels with offender risk needs, and tailoring classes to special needs populations. The Program Consultant schedules, monitors, and is responsible for all administrative aspects of the classes.
The incumbent will also be responsible for making entries into the TOADS system about services delivered; track data and ensure fidelity in the services delivered; assist colleagues delivering similar services; reviews, checks, and provides input about the services delivered statewide, including at meetings with peers. Tracks information about the services delivered and the quality of those services. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Six months of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency's programs. Training in Offender Workforce Development Specialist model will be required at the time of hire if not previously completed. Possession of a valid Driver's License is also required.
Additional experience may be substituted for the required education as determined relative by the agency.
Preferred Skills and/or Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with major course work in criminal justice, social sciences, or behavioral sciences or business management or related field and one (1) year of experience working with offenders in corrections. Or 60 semester hours of college credit with twelve (12) hours in corrections or related field, and three (3) years of experience working with offenders in corrections. Consideration will be given to those applicants with data analysis and/or program evaluation experience.
Performance Standards: Incumbent will have the ability to be self-directed; demonstrate professional alignment with evidence-based practices including cognitive-based skills-building programs, classes and interventions. Have strong facilitation skills, including ability to be purposeful, engaging and respectful with offenders, and flow with group dynamics during skills-building classes. Experience with skills-building in a group or individual setting, job knowledge in corrections, and job knowledge in workforce development, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with a team as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. The incumbent must be capable of performing established Essential Physical Functions. An initial 6-month probationary period is required for new or promoted employees.
