Support Technician Job Description:

As a Support Technician you are responsible for researching and investigating emerging
technologies that help us deliver exceptional service to our clients. Your consummate curiosity for technology is balanced by your understanding of processes and how it relates to small business. Whether you are on a client site, developing processes off site, or assisting with a complicated problem; you provide innovative solutions that exhibit your strong theoretical knowledge of all things Microsoft. Working together with the Service Manager, you will plan, implement and improve technical processes to improve our service delivery efficiency. As a team player, you will share and communicate ideas and knowledge to all members of the PC Specialist team. PC Specialists, Inc. is located in Rosemont, IL, but travel to client sites throughout the Chicago-land area will be required and most work will be performed at client sites.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support
Develop technical processes to improve services delivery
Technical architect to projects
Project manager responsibilities
Research and investigate technically sound solutions for small business technology environments
Diagnose and resolve technical issues
Manage and oversee monitoring tools & services
Perform remote diagnostics tasks
To provide outstanding customer service by interacting directly with client on client issues
Document the calls and communicate back to client in clear, concise manner
Provide onsite client service as required
Experience in the industry preferred
Experience working with teams
Excellent documentation skills
Ability and comfort with working directly with clients
The ability to write tech processes as well as perform tech duties
License and own vehicle, and willingness to travel within the Chicago-land area
Microsoft, Linux, and Apple OS experience
Good communicator with excellent phone manner
Exceptional problem solving and leadership skills

Proficiency in:
Setting up system and network architecture
Hardware -- mainly server technology
Design of WAN technologies and associated routing and security
VPN technologies
Ability to read logs and event viewer and diagnose advanced level problems
Understanding of the Ideological Priority escalation process
Intimate knowledge and troubleshooting ability and advanced disaster recovery
Advanced understanding of DNS and movement of MX and A records
Active directory and Group Policy application and design
Desired Certifications:


This will begin as a part time position, hopefully morphing into fulltime as a positive relationship develops.

Compensation commensurate with experience.
