Day Training Assistant (South Salt Lake)

DESCRIPTION:

We are currently accepting applications for our day program/work center (sheltered workshop) and community supports positions serving people with developmental disabilities in Salt Lake and Tooele Counties. FULL AND PART TIME AVAILABLE.

** Day Program
Assists developmentally disabled adults and adults with brain injuries in a day program setting with daily activities and assist with training skills and tasks. Tasks include assisting individuals in the sheltered workshop environment, educational skills, and recreational activities at the center and in the community and providing a safe environment.
--Ability to arrive on time and ready to work for their assigned schedule
--Assists in implementing and preparing Person Centered Service Plan
--Records and turns in data as it happens on the appropriate forms
--Provides direct care services to the participants in accordance with the goals and PCSP
--Assists the team with requisitions for activities, meals and events
--Assist Participants in selecting recreational activities in which to participate and participates with the participant in these activities
--Encourages and participates with participants in social activities with peers and the community in general
--Responsible for assisting the participants in keeping the program clean and orderly
--Adheres to all current ACS and DSPD policies and report any infractions to their supervisor or Executive Director
--Maintain contact with all individuals under their supervision at all times while on activities as appropriate
--Personal cell phones are not permitted while on duty or anywhere in the program to maintain a positive working environment and the privacy of the individuals served

Wage ranges depending on experience: $10.21 to 11.21 per hour

Both full-time and part-time shifts are available between 8:00am and 4:00pm

Full-time staff working more than 30 hours per week are eligible for benefits the first of the month following a 60 day waiting period of full time employment. Benefits include co-paid health and dental insurance and vacation time. See Policy 904.0 for complete details on our website.

The salary range listed is what is available for this position; new appointments are generally started at the lower end of the range depending on education and experience.
--Maintain a clean criminal record free of felonies and other related misdemeanors or substantiated Abuse Register records as determined by the Department of Licensing
--For positions which require driving, maintain an acceptable driving record (Policy 905.0)
--At least 18 years of age
--Negative results on TB test
--CPR/First Aid current within 30 days of hire
--Submit to a pre-employment and random drug screenings (Policy 909.0)
--Legibly write, read and communicate in English

Due to the nature of the people we serve, Utah State laws require a criminal background review. Applicants with a history of abuse, exploitation and other related offenses or any felony will be denied employment or terminated if currently employed. The Department of Health has an appeal and review process for applicants and employees adversely affected. (Requires both photo ID and Social Security Card to process).

In addition, we may pre-screen applicants for criminal, civil and other publicly available information. If adverse action is based on any of these results, the applicant will be notified in writing with the source and results of the information and given the opportunity to comment as appropriate.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICAITONS:
--At least a high school diploma, GED or equivalent, some coursework in the social sciences is preferable
--Good English penmanship for writing reports
--Enjoys working with adults with developmental disabilities
--SOARS, Mandt or equivalent certification
