Salary: $17.84 - $22.10 Hourly w/ excellent benefits

Perform general service, tune-up, and maintenance on a wide variety of City vehicles and equipment; maintain service records; and perform other work as assigned.

Participate in the repair, maintenance, and service of automotive vehicles and other motorized equipment, including but not limited to, light, mid-range and heavy duty trucks, ambulance and police vehicles, backhoes, loaders, caterpillars, paving equipment, compressors, generators, sewer cleaning equipment, motors, chain saws, snow removal equipment, etc.; ; transport equipment for outside repairs as needed and follow up on warranties and recalls.
Check, communicate and record oil levels; test tire pressure and ensure proper inflation; inspect and refill fluid levels as necessary.
Perform regular maintenance including oil changes, filter changes, greasing, and basic component inspections.
Maintain a clean work station.
Operate equipment such as overhead and floor mounted oil and grease guns, transmission maintenance equipment, air conditioner service equipment, cooling system maintenance equipment.
Use and care for tools, equipment, and materials used in the course of duties.
Coordinate assigned activities with those of other divisions, departments, outside agencies, and organizations as required.
Research and order parts.
Follow all safety rules and procedures established for work areas.

Perform other work as assigned.

Education: Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years experience maintaining and repairing automotive equipment as well as advanced understanding of under the hood, mechanical and under carriage assemblies.
Substitution: Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the job proficiently may substitute for the above requirements.
Desirable Qualifications:
License: Possession of an Oregon Commercial drivers license Class A with air brakes endorsement.

License: Possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain, an Oregon driver license by the time of appointment.
Provide tools and toolbox required for this position within six month of appointment.
Must obtain a class B or higher commercial drivers license with an air brakes endorsement within 12 month of appointment.
