On-Call Safety Specialist
Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare (www.cascadiabhc.org) is a major nonprofit provider of behavioral health services in the state of Oregon. Cascadia is a Recovery-oriented, trauma-informed service provider for persons with serious mental illnesses and addictions. Cascadia seeks to become consumer-involved, consumer-engaged, and consumer-driven. Cascadia furthermore seeks to increase its trauma-sensitive services. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate verbally in de-escalating clients in crisis. Professional experience in behavioral health settings a plus.A Successful candidate for this position is required to have current Oregon State Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, (DPSST) certification as an Unarmed Security Professional. Upon hire if the employee is not already DPSST certified Cascadia will reimburse candidate for successful completion of DPSST certification.The candidate must have a general understanding of cultural differences and have a strong appreciation of and respect for other cultures and attitudes.Prior safety/security experience is preferred.
The Safety Specialist is responsible for all aspects of client, staff, building, and property safety and security.Duties include: - Performing regular safety checks in and around the facility.- Assisting staff and clients with reasonable requests for assistance.- Working with staff to assist clients who are engaging in any disruptive behavior.- Responsible for all building evacuations and control during fire alarms or other emergency situations requiring building evacuation.- Directly assisting with any emergency response to the facility by the police bureau, fire department, or other emergency responders.- Writing clear, concise, complete and timely reports as required..
