We are currently seeking Residential Counselors for our downtown transitional living facility for the following position:

Day Swing and Overnight positions available!

Residential Counselors provide adults disabled by serious mental illness with supportive services to ensure success in a transitional housing community. Assists in the implementation of individual service and support plans. Collaborates with all members of the Bridgeview staff who provide wrap around services to the residents. Provides and coordinates pro-social activities. Assists with medication management as needed. Responsible for facility maintenance and safety. Manages milieu on the first floor to ensure an accepting, supportive, and safe environment for all residents.

Accountabilities: (Responsibilities of the job)
Assists individuals with individual goals dependent upon their individual service and support plan.
Responsible for seeing that the facility is kept clean, orderly, and safe at all times.
Assists residents with medication management according to each individual's program individual service and support plan.
Monitors meds according to Bridgeview policy.
Compares bubble pack to MAR.
Assists individuals in working toward self-monitoring meds in order to prepare individuals for independent living.
Teaches skills necessary for the proper self-administration of routine and PRN medications and tracks learning progress in these areas.
Educates individuals on medication names, dosages, functions, and side effects.
Ensures that individual rights are being protected.
Completes routine building walkthroughs
Assists in crisis intervention by supporting program staff. Answers crisis calls and contacts appropriate program staff members.
Documents all meaningful interactions with residents during each shift according to policy. Documentation is to reflect fact not opinion, and should contain information related to residents only. Staff input and observations may be expressed in staff communication log.
Responsible for documenting in daily staff communication log and individual resident log.
Responsible for documenting all critical incidents in a timely manner and notifying supervisor immediately of any critical incidents.
Overnight staff must be awake, alert, and dressed at all times.
Utilizes the scanning system; performs general Luke-Dorf data entry tasks.
Completes others tasks as assigned by Program Manager.

Education/Certificates/Licenses/Registration:
QMHA preferred.

Experience/Qualifications:
Experience serving hard-to-house low income persons; knowledge of social services and supportive housing model, understanding of Eviction Prevention. Ability to work independently and to provide skills training in the area of tenant skills. Comfortable using a computer and other office technology.
