Fielding Graduate University, a global community of scholar-practitioners engaged in graduate education, seeks a full time Accounting Manager to work out of our administrative headquarters located in Santa Barbara, Ca.
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the general ledger and financial reporting systems to produce timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP, government regulations, and university policies. Under the general supervision of the CFO, the Accounting Manager coordinates activity with student accounts, payroll, and financial aid; prepares revenue and investment journal entries; coordinates annual audits, month and year-end closing; manages fixed asset system, and oversees all account reconciliations. The Accounting Manager will supervise and coordinate the work of the three staff members in charge of accounts payable, general ledger support, and the mailroom.
We seek candidates with Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and at least 6 years of accounting experience of which at least 3 years must be in a similar role managing day to day accounting operations including general ledger accounting, audit, and accounts payable. Experience with not-for-profit or educational accounting, payroll and supervising is a plus. In order to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must be an effective leader with the ability to collaborate. Candidates must have excellent computer skills, knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices, ability to meet deadlines and manage workload efficiently, and be able to interpret, apply, and communicate policies.
