The Center for People in Need seeks Forklift/Warehouse Instructor for a new Reentry Program serving those transitioning from prison to the community.
Details of the position are as follows:
Position: Forklift/Warehouse Instructor
Reports To: Reentry Program Coordinator
Position Overview: Forklift/Warehouse Instructor will provide job-related education, including soft and hard skills, to ex-offenders returning to the community.
Develop and conduct initial orientation session for program participants
Create and implement multifaceted curriculum that meets the needs of ex-prisoners
Administer skills assessment tests and any other examinations
Assist with data collection
Follow and ensure that policies and procedures are being met
Provide regular updates to Program Coordinator
Other duties as assigned
Experience in forklift operations and warehouse procedures
Ability to effectively and positively facilitate classroom and hands-on instruction in order to certify students
Knowledgeable of basic electrical forklift maintenance
Preferred OSHA certification and ability to instruct course and certify students
Emphasis on safety instruction
Prefer experience in teaching, training or counseling ex-prisoners or another high-risk, adult population with little education
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
Computer literacy, including knowledge of basic software applications and familiarity with the Internet and email communication
Ability to work effectively with people of diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, from ex-prisoners to public officials
Prefer knowledge of criminal justice system and/or experiences with ex-prisoners
