Carolina Veterinary Specialists is looking for a qualified and credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our Radiation Oncology department at the Matthews clinic. The schedule is a 5-day, Monday-Friday work week.

As a Radiation Oncology Technician, you will be responsible for all aspects of the Radiology department flow including receiving patients, performing or assisting in advanced-level diagnostics, facilitating anesthesia in the pre-, peri-, and post-procedure periods, and ensuring radiology safety procedures are followed personally and throughout the hospital.

** PLEASE NOTE: Due to the job functions of this position, all applicants must be credentialed (RVT, LVT, CVT) or be a recent graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program in order to be considered for this position. **

Duties & Responsibilities:

Heavy focus on anesthesia including induction, monitoring, intervention and recovery.
Properly maintain and operate all equipment specific to the Radiology service
Maintain a clean, organized working environment in diagnostic areas by cleaning tables, mopping and disinfecting area and equipment.
Communicate with each service and evaluate the need of radiology services in order to facilitate the efficient use of the ultrasound and the radiology suite.
Perform or assist with all patient radiographs, ultrasounds, myelography, MRI or CT studies as needed
Monitor and maintain staff dosimetry reports
Proper handling of diagnostic specimens during procedure and facilitating the proper care and transfer to laboratory including accurate request forms and documentation
Properly maintain all service functions and logs according to regulating requirements
Maintain the efficiency of the service by utilizing time management skills to recognize and complete tasks in a timely manner

Qualified Candidates will possess the following:

Credentials or graduation from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program
Experience and/or working knowledge of anesthesia in the pre-, peri- and post-procedure periods
Efficiency and time-management skills
Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, general laboratory, anesthesia and pharmacology skills
Knowledge of normal patient parameters
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to administer and knowledge of medication and fluid therapies
Ability to work both independently with little supervision as well as part of a team
Strong work ethic and good organizational and multi-tasking skills
Able to lift 50 pounds
Credentialed technician preferred but not required of the right candidate
