The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for selling impulse and gift items in the assigned territory or region. The Outside Sales Representative will reach his or her business targets through effective management of territories and physical visits to customer sites. This individual will also develop ongoing, profitable relationships with customers and continually maintain a professional image of the company. In addition, the Outside Sales Representative will service existing accounts on a regular basis as designated by the customer to ensure that stock levels remain consistent and that items are displayed correctly. Integrity, passion, and in-person presentation skills are essential for this role.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Conduct sales presentations through regular visits to customer locations.
Perform professional presentations or demonstrations of company products while on-site.
Penetrate all targeted accounts and radiate sales from within client base.
Overcome objections of prospective customers.
Emphasize product features and benefits, quote prices, discuss payment terms, and prepare sales order forms and/or reports.
Build and foster a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth.
Generate and develop new customer accounts to increase revenue, by cold-calling if necessary.
Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.
Actively manage call schedule to adequately cover assigned territory in time-efficient manner.
Handle cancellations or changes in sales order and communicating the changes with the related departments, then following-up to ensure satisfactory resolution.
Periodically assist in regional trade shows and presentations.
Make front-line assessment of market conditions and advise Vice President of Sales and marketing staff of findings.
Build and maintain ongoing awareness of new products, competitor activities, and other research.
High school diploma/GED required. College education a plus.
Professional demeanor, selling style, and appearance.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed, entrepreneurial environment.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent listening skills.
Highly proficient level computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
Outstanding time management skills.
Highly energetic and self starter.
Decision-making, problem resolution, and creative thinking skills.
Able to multi-task several activities with shifting priorities.
Must be honest, assertive, and systematic.
Strong knowledge of retail and/or wholesale sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques a plus.
Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures.
Personal computer with Microsoft Excel application, e-mail access, and printer access required.
Must possess a valid driver's license and/or passport.
