To support what we do, we need to share a fair amount of content -- both words and images -- across multiple media (both digital and print) to both customers and our internal teams (in particular, helping those teams work with customers.)
We're looking for a super editorial assistant with copywriting, editing and design production skills, outstanding attention to detail, great organizational and project skills; a proactive orientation; and the ability to roll with the (metaphorical) punches. Reporting to our Communications Director and supporting for both the communications and design teams, you'll be working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment with team members from design, web, retail, communications, so an ability to work well with multiple perspectives and personalities is key.
This is a great role for someone who's had 1-2 years of editorial and production experience who's looking to be part of a creative organization to be proud of. The job would be 4 days a week.
Copywriting and editing
_ Write and edit product copy for our Heath and Heath Home products for a variety of mediums including web, point-of-sale (signage), product specifications sheets (for our internal teams), and print
_ Write and edit copy for Heath events and happenings for a variety of mediums including web, email outreach, and store signage
_ Copy edit and provide production support for our monthly newsletters
_ Oversee, develop copy for and edit two small websites
_ Provide estimates of turnaround times and resources required for completion of tasks
_ Track workflow and coordinate priorities and deadlines with multiple team members
_ Take a proactive approach to improving existing product copy
Working with images / production support
_ Processing and doing minor edits of images in Photoshop
_ Taking photos of new products, people, and events
_ Working to acquire images from third parties (working with internal teams to identify images to acquire, working with external parties to acquire them)
_ Uploading and managing (e.g. adding metadata, tagging, tracking usage rights) images in our in-house asset management system; creating image sets as necessary for press and sales needs
_ Working as the primary point of contact with our tile and trade teams on images to be used to support sales
_ Maintaining reference documents
_ Updating project management tools with production deadlines
Qualifications and Attributes
_ Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and regularly check in with the appropriate team members to assess assignment priorities and communicate any road blocks
_ Strong customer service and user experience orientation
_ Fan of design and culture. Knowledge of art a bonus
_ Strong problem solver, who brings solutions to the table whenever possible
_ Fast thinker who can generate ideas quickly and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, fluid environment
_ Inspirational, friendly and collaborative spirit who consistently exudes a positive attitude
_ Team player who builds strong working relationships with fellow co-workers and internal clients
_ Ability to accept creative feedback and adjust work accordingly. Eager to learn from fellow team members
_ Must be able to take on any task, large or small and own it from start to finish
_ Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience. We will also consider a graduate from a relevant publishing course who has the necessary skills and some work experience to bring to the role.
_ Experience in writing across multiple contexts (web, in-store, direct)
_ Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign
_ Experience working in an in-house creative environment
_ Advanced writing, grammar, spelling, editing and English skills with a creative flair
_ Familiarity with MailChimp, web and content management systems a bonus
