Just because my Mom had a beautiful set of crystal wine glasses while I was growing up, I felt, I too, had to have a set. While stationed in Germany, we purchased a set of Nachtmann tall wine hocks in the Traube pattern.

Since owning this set, they have either been boxed away or on display for a brief time in my china cabinet. They have never been in the dishwasher. They have never been used. I did hand wash them a couple of times with the vinegar rinse so that they sparkled in my cabinet.

Nachtmann is a well know leader in the cut crystal industry and has been doing buisness since about 1900. The Traube pattern, grape cluster, is over 75 years old.

The process for making these hocks is to dip clear crystal glass into a color and then cut the design. Each glass is cut with three grape clusters, grape leaves, vines, and a star pattern. The bowl has flat cuts so that when you look into the hock, there is a flower shape. Even the stem of each hock is decorated with notches. In all, each hock has about 500 individual cuts -- all hand done.

$40 buys you the hock or wine glass of your choice. I have one Cobalt, one Amethyst, two Emerald and two Ruby glasses. Each hock is about 8.25" tall. The base is about 3 3/16" in diameter and the mouth is about 2 ¾" in diameter. This hock holds about 8 ounces. The Amethyst hock is the only one without a tag.

The tag on the hock says "Hand cut, 24% Lead Crystal, Made in Hungary, Crystal Clear Industries." The tag is navy and silver in color.

I also have one Amber hock left. Amber is a bit more rare and therefor sells for $50.

ANY FLAWS you see in the photos are due to the photographer and are NOT in the GLASSES! They have never been used.

My household is a smoke-free, pet freindly enviroment.
