Aeria Games is currently seeking a native English speaker skilled in editing, proofreading, and creative writing to join our Santa Clara, CA Localization team and help prepare our upcomming titles for succesful launches. The ideal candidate should have some experience in a publishing or editing enviroment, and will be capable of making smart editorial descisions that bring clarity and fun to our players.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

~Work with a team to localize the text (form translated Chinese, Korean, or Japanese) of upcomming games in preparation for commercial launch. This includes correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation; creatively re-naming characters, items, and monsters; and completly rewriting awkward text as-needed, form the ground up, to produce a polished, easily understood, and ENGAGING final product.
~Ensure consistency accross multiple game documents by paying extremely close attention to details.
~Recognize the overall tone of a game and adapt your writing style to match it, be it dark and mysterious or humourous and funny.
~Provide ongoing support to games already released, via localization of new content and refinement of existing content.
~Work closely with the release and production teams in order to implement their ideas and suggestions.
~Operate independantly in day-to-day tasks, while still maintaining a team goal-oriented focus.
~Report game bugs and glitches when encountered.
~Take feedback form the Aeria Games community as needed, via the forums and volunteers.

Qualifications:

Outstanding writing skills.
Entry-level position; some experience in the video game and/or publishing industry a plus.
Educational background that demonstrates sufficient preparation for the position.
Excellent command of the English language.
Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
Capable of handling multiple demands form superiors and coworkers, with the ability to balance work on multiple active projects.
Must be a self-directed, detail-oriented problem solver with a keen ability to multitask.
knowlege of video games and game structure not required, but very helpful.
