As a drummer and percussionist with over 35 years of playing and performing experience, I am seeking a new or established professional performance/stage band playing any combination of Rock/Hard Rock, Jazz, Rock/Jazz Fusion, Funk or Latin rhythms. I can also hang tight on many other genres as well, and am interested in hearing whatever you have to throw at me. At age 16 I played the Montreux Jazz Festival, and haven't skipped a beat in the 30 years since.
I have played in an insane number of bands over the decades, helped develop, promote and been a regular fixture at numerous weekly open-mic sessions through the years, and have sat in with various bands 'on the fly', wich I mention only to demonstrate my skills and flexibility as a drummer and percussionist. For the past 6 years I have been playing percussion with a respected Northern California cover band, while also keeping my drumming chops strong and road-ready.
Depending on what the music needs form me, I can be both laid-back and solid in the pocket, or quite athletic with a thundering but tasteful double-kick along with fast, tight hands on both drums and percussion. I have the chops for playing intricate drum parts, and have the pro gear to back it up.
I am interested in gigging often. Traveling for practice and gigs is not an issue if the band and the music are the right fit.
My influences include (but are certainly not limited to): Steve Smith & Vital infomation, Tony Royster Jr., Dennis Chambers, Carter Beauford, Larry Mullen Jr., The Bad Plus, Live, Arturo O'Farrill, Charlie Hunter (trio & quartet), and many others. Growing up in the 70's and 80's I have played and been influenced by the many bands that helped shaped rock and roll; to include the classic rock bands of that era. I am, however, not a big fan of old school 12-Bar Blues, Country, Rockabilly, Southern Rock or Metal.
Please email me and be sure to include your phone number.
