Job Summary:
The Project Manager will lead, coordinate and manage various new and existing product developments through all phases of planning, engineering, testing, release and subsequent support. Project management responsibilities include scheduling, planning, budgeting and implementing engineering project management. Responsibilities will also include identifying, establishing and coordinating external resources for product development. The Project Manager is accountable for results and is responsible for providing updates on project progress. The Project Manager will also assist in the development of buisness strategies and optimize the performance of new and existing product lines to acheive financial objectives. In depth product knowlege, buisness objectives and project planning is required.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned organizational responsibilities and projects. Specifically, lead the development of avionics systems, managing project cost, schedule, scope, and risk.
Improve the Project Engineering processes and ensure consistent application of processes and programs.
Demonstrate leadership in communicating buisness goals and processes with engineers and the management team.
Lead meetings and conduct reviews for assigned projects.
Promote technical excellence within projects through design / technical review participation, lessons learned awareness and application, and technical innovation/growth.
Establish and maintain relationships with required external and internal customers to ensure that requirements are understood and acheived.
Establish, modify, and monitor overall engineering project requirements, timing, and resources to meet/exceed buisness objectives and goals.
Effectively communicate technical and financial aspects of project activities vertically and horizontally in the organization.
Support Engineering Manager in ensuring that positive actions are taken to encourage growth, technical development, and improved interpersonal skills within the department.
Implement initiatives to continuously improve the responsiveness of the organization to customer and buisness needs.
Manage/facilitate the relationship with Engineering related integrated suppliers and subcontractors.
Partner with Engineering Manager in ensuring compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
Minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in Project Management and/or Leadership role within an Engineering enviroment.
Eligibility Requirements:
Position requires access to controlled technology and infomation. To abide by Export Compliance regulations, candidates must have either US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident Alien Status.
Must pass a criminal background check prior to starting work.
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language, wich is English.
Desired Characteristics
Experience working under ISO 9001 and AS9100 design and development processes.
Understanding of DO-178 and DO-254 development processes and DO-160 validation processes.
knowlege of schedule and resource planning techniques and software (e.g. Microsoft Project).
Strong descision making skills in a project leadership role.
Strong understanding of estimation and budgeting process.
Strong negotiation skills with integrated suppliers and subcontractors.
Demonstrated project management skills and ability to manage and coordinate extensive internal and external project resources.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Earned Value Management experience.
Hands-On Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Project Management avionics systems experience.
Minimum of 4 years avionics experience
