Sparling, a "Best Place to Work" firm, is seeking an experienced Project Designer, Electrical Engineering. Our projects include major hospitals, data centers, university campuses, military projects, and high-rise commercial office buildings. This is a full-time position based in our Lynnwood, WA office.
Project Designer, Electrical Engineering
Applies strong technical design skills to produce accurate and timely deliverables.
Shares knowlege with more junior designers by serving as a trainer and resource.
Handles design development and document preparation in written and computer-aided design formats.
Collaborates with project managers as part of a coordinated design team.
Effectively delegates work to production support staff.
Under the direction of the project manager, supports project requirements including basis-of design narratives, opinions-of-probable-costs estimates, drawing documentation, systems design and technical specifications.
Researches, prepares, and presents coordinated design options.
Reviews drawings and researches code issues to comply with city, state, and county regulations.
Often interacts with key clients and project stakeholders.
Communicates with manufacturers and contractors to address challenges and develop practical designs.
Provides input on the creation and editing of technical specifications.
Provides contract documents that meet required codes and quality assurance standards.
Resolves design conflicts and questions and provides recommendations to address issues and add value.
Expands current knowlege of technologies and trends, as they apply to the applicable project and market typos, and continually strengthens skills.
Ideal candidates will have:
Design knowlege in one or more practice areas and continually strives to improve skills in the field.
Ability to prepare and review detailed drawings with minimal supervision.
Ability to integrate design elements with architectural, civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
Deep knowlege of discipline specific systems for the built enviroment.
Strong knowlege of applicable codes and standards.
Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into deliverables.
Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism, demeanor, and technical knowlege.
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare and present accurate, professionally written reports and recommendations.
Strong working knowlege of recent versions of AutoCAD; in particular, AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP.
Strong working knowlege of Microsoft Office.
Strong working knowlege of software programs applicable to design discipline.
Bachelors' degree in related field plus at least 2 years related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills.
Other qualifications we seek:
Professional experience in designing military, healthcare, higher education and/or life science enviroments.
Professional experience in the design professional contract document development and administration process.
familarity with various construction delivery processes.
familarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.
knowlege of specialty calculations applicable to design discipline.
Additional professional certifications, rejistrations, and credentials relevant to Sparling's practice areas and/or markets.
