I am a National Merit Scholar (top half percentile of NJ SAT takers) and taught SATs for ten years. I have virtually no overhead or administrative costs so I can offer one-on-one instruction for a lot less than Princeton Review will charge you to learn in a classroom group. remeber also that these prep classes are not tailored to the individual but are one-size-fits-all courses form major for-profit corporations. Because individual instruction is more effective the hours required are less and the total cost ends up being less.
I use and provide online materials that help me evaluate student strengths and weaknesses. I then work one-on-one in person with the test taker to develop a time management strategy based on his or her strengths and weaknesses. By mastering simple processes to quickly answer questions that are easy for the individual, time is saved so the student does not feel rushed during questions that require extended deduction, rereading passages, or penciling out math problems. I give individual lessons, and primer session that lasts three hours, or I offer a 12-hour course that will prepare a test taker for less than Kaplan that works just as well as the "classroom" SAT prep courses. Write or call for more info at 973-692-5012. References are cheerfully provided. Rates are $40-60/hr. A discount for multiple lessons is available. You WILL see significant improvement by the second or third lesson!
