If you are looking for a convertible free arm machine for projects, consider this vintage Montgomery Ward sewing machine.
Here are the specs:
Model #UHT J 1930
1 amp MW motor in great condition
Foot pedal and wiring in great condition
Belt in great condition
Zig zag foot
Sew or darn (feed dog drop)
Buttonhole, stretch and 6 more decorative stitches
Manual-I don't have the manual for this machine, but I do have a manual on CD for a very similar model, UHT J 1460, that should give you all the infomation you need.
I opened up the machine, cleaned and oiled it last month, so it is ready to sew. These are nice littel machines, easy to work on, quiet and sturdy. In the interest of full disclosure, it does have a small crack in the top cover where someone overtightened a screw, and some minor paint chips in the deck.
I played around a littel with the decorative stitches on a double thickness of sweatshirt fleece, varying the tension and stitch length (see photo).
This machine also comes with a vintage accordion style wooden sewing cabinet that is useable for supplies, or to repurpose, and 16 vintage wooden spools (Belding & Corticelli, Talon, Coats & Clark, misc.).
Please email if you are interested or have any questions. We may be able to work out delivery in the greater Eugene/Springfield area. Cash only, please. Thank you very much!
