Job summary (essential functions):
Under the supervision of the Camp Director, the Leader II will supervise campers ranging in age form 6-12 years old. The Leader II will assist with planning and implementing daily camp activities for a group of 8-10 campers. Assures that day camp operates in a safe manner at all times. Implement small-to-large group activities.
It may be neccessary to temporarily assume the duties of the camp director at your assigned day camp site or at another day camp site within the YMCA of Silicon Valley.
A commitment to the YMCA mission and its core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring as well as a commitment to building developmental assets in youth. Value diversity, youth, and have a broad vision of health and wellness that is enhanced by relationship building.
Completion of the YMCA leadership development program, or experience working with elementary school aged children in recreation settings, or completed course work in recreation or a related field.
Attendance and succesful completion of pre-camp training.
Certifications: CPR, First Aid.
Prior supervisory experience in a day camp or similar work enviroment.
Minimum 18 years of age. Minimum age of 21 if position will involve the temporary re-assignment to a management position.
