This is a working brass oil lantern (1939 Great Britain cargo light No.3954). It still burns oil and is very clean. I have not restored the brass on it for fear of it affecting the authenticity of the peice. It has glass plates on all four sides that are easily removable for cleaning if desired. If you unhook the chain and flip the lid open, the inside contains two handles to pull the oil lamp out of the case in order to light, refuel, etc. This is a perfectly working show peice to have outside of a barn, on a porch or deck, or even in a garden. However, it is also a great collectors item as well! I have found this to be a great conversation peice when I have had it lit.
-Estimated size is 15" tall (minus upper and lower handles and tie downs) and 6 1/2 " wide on all four sides (minus eye hooks).
