I have an old Singer 188KI Industrial sewing machine. This is not one of the wimpy newer machines - the parts are made of steel, and it sews like a dream. The motor is smooth and quiet, and the knee operated clutch mechanism works well. Included is the leather drive belt - it works, but should be replaced. The light is missing the bracket, but something could be easily rigged up. I've only used this sewing machine with smaller nylon thread, and for many projects, it's been a life saver. It will sew any clothing, denim, canvas, and light leather projects easily. I've done a small canvas tent, and some light duty holsters, but this machine's abilities are stretched when it comes to 3 thicknesses of leather.
I would either like to sell the machine outright, or trade it for something that can handle the thickness of leather that I'm trying to work with. Even if it's a hand operated saddle/boot stitcher, I would would be happy to look at it. ** Please put "188KI" in the header of the email so I can distinguish between all of the spammers out there. Thanks!!
