Residential Construction Superintendent - Hands On Senior Management Position

Sibelius Development, LLC, a mid-sized builder of entry level single family homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, is hiring a full time Construction Superintendent for hands-on coordination and field supervision of construction activities. The Superintendent will be responsible for the entire construction process including selection and supervision of all subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers, and managing labor, cost, and material requirements against schedule.

Our company builds an average of fifty entry level homes per year spread between four subdivisions (Crowley, Arlington, Duncanville). We are a small, hands-on company where everyone wears a lot of hats and takes on personal accountability to get the job done.

Employment candidate must have 4+ years experience working as a construction superintendent or general contractor responsible for supervising all aspects of building single family homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro. Employment candidate must be dedicated, self-motivated, resourceful, aggressive, and a highly organized individual. This person must demonstrate honesty, company loyalty, reliability, professionalism, strong verbal communication skills, and a strong work ethic. The candidate must understand and be prepared to commit to completing all projects as scheduled and work as a team player. This is a full-time, hands on, senior management position. Candidate may not participate in other professional construction projects which would distract from this position. Candidate must pass a criminal and DMV background check and submit to periodic drug screening tests. Candidate must be a US Citizen or document their legal right to work in the United States.

Construction Superintendent Job Description:

The following are the general tasks necessary for superintendent to insure the coordination of the projects within our standards in a safe manner from start-up through completion. Complete accountability of the entire construction process will be in the hands of the superintendent during the entire duration of each job.


?Manage multiple job-sites and construction of 12 houses at any given time with ultimate responsibility for completion and quality control (high-quality craftsmanship, on-time and on-budget)
?Select, schedule, supervise, and manage sub-contractors onsite to ensure their work is completed correctly, on budget, and on time to achieve efficient project execution
?Select and manage ordering of required materials
?Inspect work in place and as performed against plans, specifications, workmanship, and code compliance.
?Ensure that all work is performed in a workmanlike and professional quality manner.
?Obtain building permits, schedule inspections, and apply for and obtain a Certificate of Occupancy.
?Review and measure projects before construction to confirm accuracy of proposal from vendors/subs.
?Document job-site details and report progress daily to the Director of Operations and address any issues.
?Communication information effectively to other supervisors and subordinates.
?Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information, files, and schedules.
?Coordinate warranty services with various sub-contractors
?Meets customer-service standards, resolve problems, identify construction management system improvements and cost efficiencies.
?Prevents fines and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, codes.
?Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
?Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging construction practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
?Enhances reputation of the company by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
?Be an educational resource for various team members and home buyers.
?Perform inspections and walk-through with lenders, clients, property managers and real estate agents to ensure complete client and lender satisfaction.

Hours and Location:

?Full-time salaried position. Candidate shall establish a work schedule as needed to complete the required work load. Long hours and weekend work may be required during peak construction periods.
?Construction sites located throughout Dallas/Fort Worth (Crowly, Arlington, Duncanville)


?Minimum of four years hands on construction management experience.
?Team oriented approach
?Proficient interpreter of construction drawings and specifications.
?Understanding and implementation of local building codes
?Must be proficient in English. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
?Must possess the ability to work well with field personnel, subcontractors, company owners and office staff. Must instinctively know when and how to be aggressive, but with a pleasant demeanor.
?Good written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail orientated, well organized, and possess strong time management skills. Must be a good listener.
?Must possess the ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
?Highly motivated, results-driven, with ability to effectively manage and follow-up on multiple priorities.
?Must be able to create and work within construction budgets.
?Basic computer skills including email, Excel, Word and smart phone technology.
?Capable of climbing ladders and stairs, lifting up to 50 pounds, and walking or standing for periods of time.
