Antique wooden wheel chair made by The Colson Corp in Elyria, Ohio and dates back to the early 1900's. The company was formed in 1885 by George Worthington, William Fay, and Fred Colson. In 1910 Fred purchased the company and the name was changed to The Colson Corp. This is when he expanded the product line to include wheeled hospital equipment. The company is still in business so parts would still be readily available to bring these old beauties back to life. This wheelchair is solid oak and is in good condition. The model number is 443 4X2. I do not find much fault with this wheelchair with exception to the right leg rest (it raises) but the part is missing to keep it in this position. Left leg raises and locks in place. I do not know anything about these old wheelchairs so please ask any questions or concerns that you might have. The tires seem to be in good shape with normal wear and stone pits. There are 2 heavy duty shocks on the chair. Beautiful wood grain oak. This would also make a excellent prop. Local pick up only.
