PAUL GEYGAN was a contemporary American artist who was primarily noted for his lithographs and paintings of marine scenes, locomotives and landscapes, primarily of the American West. He began exhibiting his art in 1975 and in the following years was included in exhibitions in Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Louis, to name a few. Paul Geygan passed away in 2000.
We are not experts of art but believe this is an original lithograph print. It is signed in pencil lower right and initialed "AP" in the lower left of the print, which means 'Artist Proof.' Condition of the print is excellent, with no apparent damages except there are a few smudge/dirt marks on the white boarder on the outside of the print. We think these could just be penciled away but did not want to mess with the picture, or, you could just re matt the new matt closer to the picture. The print is behind glass with a double mat and is framed but the frame does have some nicks. We have looked all over the Internet and have not been able to find another print likes this one so we think it is rare. His works are selling on EBAY from $99.00 for smaller size prints up to $500.00 plus shipping so we feel this is a very good price. Very beautiful landscape with a really soft blue sky. This is a very detailed lithograph!
When a limited edition is created there will generally be approximately 10% additional run off as Artist's Proof. These are sometimes numbered and sometimes they are not. They are exactly the same in quality and marked "AP". These prints are set aside for the artist and publisher. The picture framed measures 28" H x 33" w. The actual proof measures around 26" w x 21" H.
Great piece of art for your home art collection!
